For today’s art session, I decided to bring a little extra light and joy onto the page with this cheerful star character. Stars often symbolize hope, dreams, and guidance, but I wanted to give mine a fun, playful twist. Instead of being distant and unreachable, this star is alive with personality — smiling wide, blushing with excitement, and radiating happiness.

I went with bold, vibrant yellow to capture the classic star imagery, while adding colorful ribbon-like trails to suggest energy and motion. These swirling blue accents give the drawing a sense of life, almost as if the star is dancing across the sky. The big expressive eyes and rosy cheeks make it feel friendly and approachable, like a character that could easily fit into a storybook or animated world.

This piece was all about experimenting with personality in simple shapes. A star is usually just points and lines, but by adding roundness, shading, and exaggerated features, it became something much more — a character that feels alive.

I really enjoyed creating this, and it reminded me how a simple idea can shine when you bring imagination into it. ✨

What do you think this star’s story would be? Is it guiding travelers through the night sky, or maybe just out to spread laughter and joy?

I’ve always loved the Cheshire Cat from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. He’s one of those characters who’s both funny and a little mysterious, and of course, you can’t forget that giant grin. Recently, I decided to sit down and draw him myself, and I wanted to share the result with you here.

The Drawing Process

I wanted to capture the Cheshire Cat in one of his most classic poses—curled up, looking super pleased with himself, and showing off that wide, mischievous smile. I stuck with his signature pink and purple stripes because, honestly, that color combination is too iconic to change. The bold pink pops against the darker purple, and it really makes him stand out on the page.

The part I had the most fun with was his face and expression. His big yellow eyes and giant grin practically tell their own story, and I tried to keep that playful but slightly mischievous vibe he’s so famous for.

How It Turned Out

Overall, I’m really happy with how it came out! The stripes have some variation that makes them feel lively instead of flat, and I like how the shading gives him a bit of depth without overcomplicating the design. I decided to leave the background blank so all the focus would stay on the Cheshire Cat himself—because let’s be real, he is the star of the show.

Final Thoughts

This was such a fun character to draw, and I feel like the Cheshire Cat’s personality really shines through. He’s bright, playful, and just a little unsettling, which is exactly how he should be.

It’s always cool to take a character you love and put your own spin on them, and this one was especially enjoyable. I might even try drawing a few more Alice in Wonderland characters in the future to go along with him.

Today I want to share a fun piece of artwork I created that celebrates one of the most unlikely treasures in the Pokémon world: a shiny Magikarp. In this drawing, I went for a bold, comic-style look, full of energy and exaggerated excitement. The background bursts with sharp red and blue rays, almost like an old-school manga action panel, which helps capture the over-the-top joy of the moment.

At the center, a character (with a wide grin hidden under a mask and a mess of purple hair) proudly hoists up the golden Magikarp. The fish itself is oversized, glowing with radiant light as if it’s the rarest prize imaginable. Its blank, surprised expression adds just the right amount of humor, perfectly contrasting with the triumphant pose of its new trainer.

For me, this artwork is a mix of comedy and celebration. Anyone who’s played the games knows how special a shiny Magikarp is—it’s rare, unexpected, and almost silly when compared to other shinies. But that’s also what makes it amazing: it turns something common into something extraordinary.

This piece was fun to work on because it captures that exact feeling. Sometimes art doesn’t need to be serious or complex—it can just be about pure joy, color, and exaggeration. And in this case, it’s about appreciating a golden fish that shines brighter than it has any right to.

🎨 Onion Pixels – Drawing #439: Mime Jr.

Say hello to one of the most playful and whimsical Pokémon out there—Mime Jr.! I had a lot of fun bringing this little performer to life in my latest drawing. With its quirky hat-like curl, bright smile, and bouncing energy, Mime Jr. feels like it’s always ready to step onto the stage.

For this piece, I wanted to capture its joyful personality with bold lines and soft colors, keeping that lighthearted charm it’s known for. The handwritten “439” ties it back to its Pokédex number, while the playful lettering mirrors the character’s cheerful vibe.

Mime Jr. has always stood out to me as a mix of cute and mischievous—never quite still, always dancing, always entertaining. This drawing is my way of celebrating that spirit.

Stay tuned here on Onion Pixels for more artwork and future comic projects—I’ll keep filling the gallery with characters, creatures, and ideas that inspire me.

Here’s a drawing I created of Gengar, one of my favorite Ghost-type Pokémon. I wanted to capture that mischievous grin that makes Gengar so iconic, so I put him right under a full moon to give the piece an eerie, Halloween-like atmosphere. The rough shading and scratchy texture add to that unsettling vibe, like he just emerged from the shadows to cause some playful chaos.

The moon in the background was a fun detail to add—slightly cracked and covered with dark clouds, it helps frame Gengar in his natural spooky setting. The colors lean toward darker purples, greens, and grays to keep that ghostly tone consistent throughout.

I really enjoyed experimenting with the mix of bold outlines and sketchy fills. It gives the drawing an almost comic-like energy, which feels perfect for Gengar’s personality—playful, sneaky, and just a little menacing.

What do you think? Did I capture Gengar’s spooky spirit, or should I make the next one even scarier? 👀

This was the first 'Thank You' drawing I included when I first started selling on Etsy. It was really cute as I love floppy disks and this was a really cute rendition of it. I thought I could share this one on here to get things started. More to come!
